Next week, world-renown pop artist Rob Prior of Los Angeles will travel with EDGE (Eco Defense Group) to Limpopo, South Africa to paint elephant, rhino and other great species for fundraising at Itaga Lodge and Adventures With Elephants.
Prior will also teach and paint with school age children from local townships as EDGE and the lodge provide the kids with art supplies and offer game drives.
Not only an exciting experience to see a famous artist in action, the painting will bring conservation and ecological awareness to underprivileged children with limited wildlife exposure, many of whom are often recruited for poaching.
Proceeds from the paintings will go toward EDGE and EDGE-partner work in Elephant genetic research and community development in unique and innovative approaches to wildlife conservation.
Rob’s trip and the art program is facilitated by EDGE as part of community development — says a representative for EDGE “Art and photography projects in these villages are as important to protecting the welfare of endangered wildlife as training and equipping Rangers. It’s amazing to see the world expand for these kids.”
