Adopt an elephant

They need you.

With our partner Rory Hensman Research & Conservation Unit, we invite you to adopt one of our elephants and help protect these ellies from overcrowded lands, poaching and conflict with humans.

You can also choose to adopt a baby rhino.

Meet the Ellies

An annual adoption comes with a plaque, information about your elephant, updates and other gifts.  All adoptions are tax deductible in the United States.  Meet the ellies below.  Click here for a packet to adopt an elephant with your classroom, school or office!

My name is Shan and I am an 18-year-old female elephant. My son, Zambezi, and I are still very close; we can be seen foraging and bathing together. I am the dominant female, showing the characteristic flat forehead, and often voicing my opinion over the goings on of the herd.

My name is Chishuru and I am a 21-year-old bull elephant, Chishuru is the name of a beautiful river and I think I’m pretty good looking as elephants go! I am quite famous too, I have been in a few feature films, television shows, tv commercials, and even documentaries.

My name is Chova and I am a 23-year-old bull elephant. I lost the tip of my trunk when I was younger but have since learned to adapt by scoping food into my trunk using my front feet.

My name is Nuanedi and I am a 17-year-old female elephant. As I do not have a calf of my own, I take pride in my job as aunt in the herd. I am often tasked with keeping a close eye on the babies when their mothers are busy. Unfortunately, I am recognizable because of a cut in my trunk caused by a loose wire which never healed.

My name is Zambezi and I am a 3-year-old bull elephant. My mother is Shan and I am known as the boisterous baby, even though I am roughly 500kg. I was given my name in honor of the favorite place of the founder of Adventures with Elephants.

My name is Musina and I am a 17-year-old female elephant. Musina is the name of the northern most town in Limpopo. I have a 2-year-old daughter, Bela, who is the favorite baby of the herd. My mother was said to be a matriarch and so I hope to be one someday.

My name is Bela and I am a 2-year-old female elephant and I live with my friends and family at Adventures with Elephants, on a reserve in Limpopo Province, South Africa. My mother Musina is very proud of me because I am the favorite baby.

Keep us safe

My mom watches over me as I hang out in the shadow of the Rooiberg mountains.

I was born May 1, 2019, and EDGE helps keep me safe. Do you want to give me a name?
